A big thank you to all who participated in the Toy Drive for the Haitian Kids. The children clearly picked out some of their favorite treasures - you could hardly tell any of the toys were second-hand. More than half of all toys donated were soft sweet cuddly stuffed animals, so those were boxed separately and we hope that the US Naval Ship COMFORT will give each patient one of the soft toys after they treat or operate on the patients, and that they will send the other toys (and clothes) over to the island by helicopter.
All nine boxes (close to 200 pounds of toys) were mailed by US Post this morning and it will take about one week to get to the ship. (COMFORT is the big white medical ship that is off shore doing so many operations for those who need it.) The Postmaster said that if we had sent it to Haiti, that they would have taken it but that nothing is being deliverred directly to Haiti now due to the logistics.
Please let your children know that their gifts are a beautiful sign of a generous heart, and they will be treasured.
